After attaining two bachelor degrees from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Elementary Education and Psychology, she began her family with her husband. In addition to opening her own business, she began to grow her family of six children. While raising her children was the main priority in her life, she continued to be a business owner for 12 years while also being home in the day to raise her children. Using her degree in Elementary Education, she began homeschooling her children starting with her first and continues to this day with her youngest. Her children range in ages from 20 years old to seven years old. Her love for children has led her in the path of becoming a doula. It has always been her passion in which now she has time to pursue. She is currently obtaining her master’s degree in marriage and family therapy, which will be completed in the Spring of 2019.
Her training comes from DONA International (Doulas of North America). Becoming certified under DONA has equipped her with helpful skills in further understanding what new moms will need in order to flourish to their greatest potential. Although her personal background has prepared her for many newborn scenarios, with the official certification, she is better able to assist new moms in their fourth trimester, the first three months after birth.
